Friday on Tuesday!

Today is Tuesday. It's my "Friday"... last day of the work week for us. Two weeks to go... well, 12 days before the marina closes, if you're keeping track. I drove on the last breakfast cruise this morning - a beautiful morning; heading out, we had the heavens smiling on us...

An eagle "fly by", 3 big bull elk, and a nice bunch of people... a fine way to call it a season for me on Elk Island.

The rest of the day was interesting... a pretty view of Mt. Moran through the windshield of the cruise boat...

The smoke from all the forest fires in the area (there are about 15 fires now burning in the 3 state area, two here in the park, several more up north in Yellowstone) came and went as the wind changed directions...

On the 3:30 cruise, a fast moving thunderstorm rolled through. I had a few passengers who were concerned about the lightning we could see from the boat, but I assured them that we would be where it wasn't. The wind and waves kicked up, and we had a "white water ride", no extra charge! Everyone did fine; I changed the routing to keep us away from the convective stuff and keep the boat going in the directions that would give us the best ride. Mother Nature made it a challenge as the wind gusted from north, then east, then southwest!

As fast as the storm moved in, it moved on through. When we came back to the marina at the end of that cruise, it was relatively calm... and no small boats, kayaks, or canoes to dodge on the way in, 'cause they had all gotten off the water when the storm rolled through.

Two days off, coming up! And those LONG days are done!
