Fan bois...

"Fan bois" is a term some folks use to describe people who are advocates of a particular brand, often directed towards those who use Apple products. After posting yesterday's iPad post, I received some e-mails and private messages on other forums about "the cult-like following for Apple products"...

We use what works, and the Apple products work. Smooth and seamless. Right out of the box. They are proof that cheaper isn't always better, and a good user experience is good for the bottom line. Most businesses and manufacturers could learn from this.

I've always suggested, "buy the right tool for the job." There is obviously a lot of interest in the iPad, and especially so regarding its use on the boat. That thread here still gets a lot of hits everyday, a year an a half after it was originally posted...

So, buy a new iPad or don't. Or an iPhone. Or an iPod. Music devices, tablets, and smart phones all existed before Apple brought their products to the market. A great user experience with those devices didn't exist until Apple put it all together. And see who has the lion's share of the market on those devices.

So... "fan boi"... cult... really?

I gotta run... time to shave my head and dance around in a robe in front of the Apple store! laugh laugh laugh
