Spring Training...

No, not a new exercise regimen - it's spring training for the Major League Baseball teams, many with camps in the Phoenix area. Today is opening day. We have not been to the field in Goodyear before, home to the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. It was a beautiful day, Joan arranged for tickets, Steph picked 'em up - we had good seats down the third base line.

The Cactus League, as spring training is referred to, lets you see professional sports in a smaller venue, at reasonable prices. Joan and I aren't huge baseball fans, but it is always a treat to see a take this in... oh, and get a variety of ballpark eats. One of the first we came to was: chili dogs with Skyline Chili! I knew what I would be eating!

Since we were there early enough, we walked around the park a bit before chowing down and taking our seats. It's a very nice facility...

Walking around before the game...

A good crowd for opening day - they said attendance was around 6,800. Take me out to the ballgame, take me out to the crowd...

Some of the game...

A fine day and a good game - the lead went back and forth, with the Indians leading most of the time, then the Reds having a 4-run inning. It ended with a 6-6 tie... yes, ties are allowed in spring training.
