Oh, yeah, now I remember...

We put the finishing touches on getting the 5th wheel ready for the summer off this morning, then waited for the tide to have the bridge reasonably level. Then we spent the next 3 hours, in the hottest part of the day, taking the 5th wheel to storage, getting it parked, and getting the boat pulled out. At one point, the thermometer on the truck read 107ยบ!! Now, granted, that was in the blazing sun... oh, yeah, the same damn place we were standing.

The only thing we forgot to take with us was our battery jumper/compressor (for airing up the boat trailer tires, if needed)... if you have it, you don't need it. But, if you don't have it... we held our breath while checking out the boat. The tires look OK, but she is really grubby; obviously, plenty of blowing dirt, then rain. She is going to need a lot of sprucing up before she goes back in the water.

And, it's too freakin' hot to even consider that today. Any concern I had previously about forgetting how to sweat has been washed away... yeah, by my sweat. But, the really nice thing about the heat is how it makes working outside such a cheery endeavor.

This week is Semana Santa... also known as Holy Week. There is a major influx of Mexican Nationals that come to South Padre Island for a beach vacation. The streets are full of cars, the stores are full of people... kinda like spring break, but with a different crowd. We did make our way through the store this morning, through the throngs who were buying beach stuff, swimwear, and alcohol; we supplied up enough on groceries to hold us for a few days. No lunch out 'till after Monday.

It's gonna take me that long to get the boat cleaned up. ;-)
