Well, the day started off sunny...

I was up before the sun came up - a storybook looking sliver of a moon and plenty of starts; nice to see clear sky again.  We planned to take the boat out this afternoon.  After lunch, as we were coming back to the house, the sky cover moved in again.  Oh, nothing nasty, the wind was light, the temp was into the 60s (still below normal for here), and the boat beckoned.

I was surprised at how much that last norther affected the water temps: 53º in the bay, 56º in the Gulf... it was 70 and 72º just after Christmas.  No matter; the water was beautifully calm and it felt good to be out and about on it again.  The non-lumpy ship channel...

We heard the excursions boats talking about where the dolphins were, but we were just bopping along, enjoying the boat... didn't even feel the need to deviate north to take that in.  The transition from the jetties to the Gulf was lumpy, but decently spaced.  At one point, Joan said, "Whoooohoooo!"  Not exactly a rollercoaster, but a definite change from the flat water of the bay and the ship channel.

On our way back in the canals, I took this image...

Check out the reflections in the water - it's been a while since we've seen it that calm around here!  :-)
