Scooter places...

There are places where a scooter works.  And places where it doesn't... like: long distances on the freeway, or picking up a friend at the airport with lots of luggage, or anyplace that has snow.  Yeah, I know what you're thinking: "Candy-ass!  I would ride in the snow!"

Sure.  Go for it.

But, here in the Tropical Tip... it's warm.  On our island, the speed limit is 15 mph.  In the towns of Port Isabel and South Padre Island (either side of the Queen Isabella Causeway, 2 1/2 miles across the Laguna Madre), the speed limit through most of it is 30 mph.  At the north end of the island, it kicks all the way up to 40 mph.  Across the Causeway, it is 55 mph.  Easy to get around by scooter.

This morning, we ran across the Causeway for breakfast on the island.  Drove around on the island for a while.  Just 'cause.  Back across the Causeway, and a stop at the Lighthouse Square...

It's Market Days - there were booths with crafts and stuff.  Nothing we needed, but it was a pleasant walk around the Square.  And, across the street to the Mercado... and nothing we needed there.  Back through the booths...

On to the grocery store for something to grill for supper.  Yep, you can carry groceries in the scooters.  And a stop at the marine stuff store... I need a quart of bottom paint to touch up Wild Blue's bottom.  Of course, they didn't have it in stock, but I should get it next week... so, I can put off some of that work until then.

More time for scootering. ;-)

Thinking about it

Hi Roger. If it's "a bug", it took me 45 years to get infected. ;-) All those years of motorcycling had me believing that small meant "not capable" and no shifting meant missing out on one of the best parts of motorcycling. Apparently, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks... I haven't had this much fun on two wheels in a lot of years. No doubt, not for everyone.

Along the same lines as cruising sailors thinking that RVing is for when you can't handle sailing/cruising anymore. ;-)
