We are SO outta here...

Don't get me wrong, we like Anacortes.  What's not to like?  A couple nice grocery stores.  West Marine.  Lots of food options, including fast food (my delicate palate likes junk food once in a while).  Hardware stores.  A great marina.  Plenty of boat yards.  AND, it's all within walking distance from the Cap Sante Marina.

We had planned to stay a few days, but Mother Nature gave us a beautiful day while on land, then another to get launched and into a slip... and today, she was going to change her mind about that: there is rain predicted for the next few days.  Oh, Wild Blue is fine in the rain.  Her radar is nice when the visibility goes down.  But, we really didn't want to "get moved in" at Friday Harbor in the rain.

We decided to bail early from Anacortes.  We had breakfast out and did some more swapping from the truck to the boat... and back.  I suggested we consider heading out today, and Joan was onboard.  Izzy was fine with it, too.  Before taking the boat to the San Juans, we took it out of the marina and tested all the electronics while underway.  Ran the engine fast and slow.  Everything checked out fine, so we came back into the marina for some of that good non-ethanol fuel and set a route for Friday Harbor.

The sky had been gray in Anacortes all morning.  This was the view as we walked by the marina to breakfast...

After breakfast, we took a stroll through the local farmers market...

Some cheese curds called my name... that happens a lot.

We made the decision to head out, after checking weather.  Not a lot of boats out today - surprising, since it was really nice out.  We did see this big fellow just outside of Anacortes...

Pretty sure he isn't going to fit in the slip we vacated.  ;-)

Non-boating friends and family often ask how we find our way when out on the water.  This is a lot like one of those "You Are Here" maps in the mall...

Rosario Strait was benign.  Since we left around lunch time, Joan made us some chow while underway...

The autopilot makes it easy to eat and keep track of the helm...

We saw some harbor porpoise (not social and curious like our bottlenose dolphins in the Tropical Tip) and a few seals.  And the scenery was nice...

For a short time, we had a bit of blue sky...

We saw several ferries along the way...

Little Izzy settled in under a blanket...

We took our time heading to Friday Harbor; the weather and sea conditions made it easy to just cruise along at displacement speed.  And, at $4.42 for that nice non-ethanol fuel, we didn't burn much along the way.

About 4:15, we were approaching Friday Harbor.  Of course, one of the ferries was just heading out as we were heading in - I think they were saying, "Welcome home!"

We pulled into our slip, and were greeted by a couple of our neighbors.  We were able to get set up without standing in the rain.  Yep, welcome home... for the summer.
