Dueling remotes...

After another walk through Chemainus, a leisurely lunch out, a stop at a nearby bakery for some sweet treets... well, we were ready to cool our heels.  It was warm, and the inside of the boat was shady and cooler than outside.  Joan clicked on the TV.

We have Distant Networks along with Dish - it gives us east coast and west coast networks.  It is good for our wandering lifestyle, and was especially good while we were working this summer... we could watch the east coast feed for the Tonight Show, starting at 8:30 Pacific Time.  Since we were always up early, this worked for us.

Back to the boat today: Joan clicked on the TV, and Maury was on.  I don't really care who anyone's "baby daddy" might be, so I changed the channel.  Joan likes to watch Rachael Ray.  A few seconds later, the TV switched back to Maury.

"What's up with that?" Joan asked.

"Maybe you bumped the remote?" I offered, and switched it back to Rachael Ray.  A few seconds later, it switched back to Maury.

"Someone is on the same radio frequency for the remote."  I looked around - there is a new boat along the outside dock, and they have a satellite dome...

Yeah, they look like Maury-watchers.  ;-)  We unplugged the radio remote from our satellite receiver - no more channel switching.  We had this happen at an RV park years ago; there are six different frequencies you can set your radio remote for... and they all come programmed on the first setting.  Radio remotes are good, since you don't have to point the remote right at the receiver - you can change the channel from a different room... or in the V-berth.  Or, from the boat near you.  ;-)

More walk-about in Chemainus.  Most of the big boats around us left this morning... that makes less to knock down the wake of the nearby ferry landing...

No doubt, other boats will come in today; I am happy to have some distance from the ferry.

We followed the footprints on the sidewalks to take the "Mural Tour"...

The photos of the murals I posted yesterday don't show the size of these things, without something in there for perspective.  Here's some perspective on different murals...

Not a mural, this wooden door on the front of a very small hotel is unique...

Another mural...

Walking back through the Water Wheel Park, the same musician was playing...

Not much of a crowd.  We sat and listened for a while.  Mostly pan flute type music.  We heard a lot of that back in southern California when we used to RV around the Palm Springs area.

We wandered around town, looking for a lunch menu that had something for both of us.  After August, some of the restaurants and shops are only open on weekends... still, there are plenty of options.  We found a local-looking restaurant with a varied menu... I even got to have poutine!

More murals...

The bike is real, the wood building and ladies are painted on.

We'll relax around the boat for a bit this afternoon, then out for a night at the theatre.
