The real Captain Ron...

When we worked at the Tetons, one of the other captains was Captain Ron... the real Captain Ron, not that movie guy with the eye patch.  Imagine our surprise when we found out that Ron and Gayle are in the San Juans with their boat - we haven't seen them in almost two years.  We found out they were in Friday Harbor when we were on our way to Anacortes.  Knowing we had to come back to get the truck, we made arrangements to get together.

Our buddy Herb gave us a ride to the ferry terminal this morning.  It was a gray day with wispy fog.  While sitting on the ferry, we were visited by Kevin (naturalist and trainer), from our jobs this summer.  We didn't see him much that last couple weeks we were there, it gave us a chance to get caught up.

From the ferry as we came into Friday Harbor...

A view of the company boats as we got close...

We walked to the permit parking area to get Big Red out of her parking spot and put her in line for the next ferry.  We walked past our office and the burned out building, one last time...

Hopefully, it will look like a real building again next time we see it.  We walked past our empty slip, down H-dock to Ron and Gayle's boat... reunion time!  We visited for about an hour in their boat... catching up on "As the Tetons Turn" and what their cruising plans for this area are.  It was a treat - Ron and I worked together on the cruise boats, Joan and Gayle worked together in the marina store; it was great to catch up.

Off to lunch at the Blue Water.  Here's Ron and Gayle...

See?  No eye patch.  More fun conversation over lunch, then it was time for us to get back to the truck to load on the ferry.  I took one more photo of Kittiwake, there by herself...

One last view of the marina...

and we are on our way back to Wild Blue.
