To quote an old Beatles song...

... because there are no new Beatles songs...

Ya say it's your birthday!  Happy Birthday to ya!

One of us is having a birthday today.  I won't say who it is, but it's not Izzy and it isn't me.  So, this birthday person wanted to go out for breakfast then take a walk on the beach.  Around here, you get to do what you want on your birthday... well, except for me, 'cause I've had to work on my birthday the last few years... but, this isn't about me, 'cause it's someone else's birthday, and she really gets to do what she wants on her birthday... which would be really nice, but something I haven't had personal experience with the last few years... but, on with the post.

Breakfast at Manuel's.  We parked the scooters right in front.  No, I didn't arrange that... it's the middle of the week, in the middle of October - no wait for a table.  We ordered our "usual," and, as usual, it was plenty tasty.

Then, the nicest ride across the causeway ever on two wheels, including the days of the BMW or the V-Strom - it was calm.  No buffetting.  The water was pretty, but I didn't bring the GoPro, so you'll just have to trust me.  We drove up the main drag on South Padre Island and pulled into a close parking spot at Clayton's.

A better look at some of the sand castles you might have seen in an early post...

All very nicely done.  This one made me laugh...

It needs some narration: It says "US Gov" on the plaque in front; that is the Washington Monument in back, an arch representing a National Park on the right side... it is a big on/off switch, and it is switched to "OFF."  Political satire in a sand castle.

It is an absolutely beautiful day here in the Tropical Tip: temp in the 80s, a very light breeze, mostly sunny.  Looking down the beach, it looked like this...

A short video (not from the GoPro)...

And, a compressed version for YouTube...

We walked a couple miles on the beach, then came back to Clayton's, picked chairs facing the water, ordered up a drink on the rocks (Diet Coke - we're riding the scoots), and watched 8 teens on the beach.  They were having fun with a couple skim boards, and trying head-stands on the sand... 4 boys, 4 girls, bikinis and bravado.  Entertaining.

Hydrated, back to the scoots and a stop at the local grocery store for food for a nice quiet supper in.

Happy Birthday, Joan!
