Three states and a time zone...

Utah, Idaho, and into Oregon today; far enough into Oregon that we are now on Pacific Time Zone.  Two hours earlier than we we used to back in Texas... makes for an early night and we are up and at 'em early in the morning.

Another 600+ mile day today.  I must be getting accustomed to it, only being moderately exhausted by the time we pulled into tonight's motel.  They nicked us for an additional $15 for Izzy.  So far this trip, it has ranged from $10 extra to no extra charge for the furry kid.  The front desk person was nice when Joan called.  When I checked in, that girl told me, "We normally don't allow cats, so I am making an exception, since your wife said your cat is very sweet."

I said, "She's an 8 pound cat.  She doesn't claw anything, she won't pee or poop on your floor, she won't chew anything, and she is quiet.  She's not only better than any dog you've ever had here, she's better than any human kid.  You should be giving us money off for bringing in such a good guest."

She didn't see it that way.

It was a long drive today, but pretty.  The "through the windshield tour":

Utah...

Coming out of the mountains, we got this up close and personal view of some new wind generators...

I am fascinated by those huge things.

Our timing was good, coming into the Salt Lake City area towards the end of their morning rush hour traffic.  I enjoyed seeing all the businesses and signs (one can only take so much scenic splendor).  North of Salt Lake City, we came across a large group (at least a dozen) paragliders catching some updrafts...

Through Idaho...

Fuel prices there were better than Utah or Oregon.  Lovely scenery.  We made it through Boise before the afternoon rush hour.  Good timing.  We crossed the Snake River a bunch of times.

On to Oregon...

Up and down hills.  More shades of green than we've seen in a while.  You can tell from the above photo, we squished a few bugs along the way today.  It was 37º when we left this morning, over 85º this afternoon.  The heater and a/c in the truck got a workout.

Other than feeling discriminated against at tonight's motel, little Izzy was her usual good-traveling self.  She sat on Joan's lap for a while this morning, took a nap, had some lunch, took a nap, came out of her carrier to look around, then took another nap.  It's a tough travel schedule.

We have driven over 2,200 miles in the past 4 days; we'll be on the home stretch tomorrow... if all goes right.  That will put us into Anacortes a day earlier than we originally scheduled for, but it will give us time to look over the boat, hook up and charge the batteries, and settle in.  If all goes right.  We will have to go through Seattle on a Friday afternoon... what could possibly go wrong with that plan?  ;-)
