Friday on Sunday...

Today was our "Friday"... the end of our work week.  I had an afternoon charter.  And a good whale report - the Js are back!  The weather started out crappy, but by departure, the drizzle stopped.  This had the makings for a very nice way to end the work week.

The charter guests were more interested in visiting amongst themselves (not unusual) than hearing from the naturalist.  Well, until we got to the whales.  Since we departed after the other boats in the harbor (if you charter the boat, you can pretty much pick the time... other boats had already moved on.  There were only a few boats when we arrived where the leaders were heading.  One of the first things we saw was two full breaches!  Yep, a fine day.

At one point, we had 3 whales milling (not changing direction), and we were the only boat watching them.  What a change from yesterday.

A couple of the guests asked the naturalist if we'd see eagles this trip.  After getting plenty of views of J-Pod, I came down from the helm and asked if they were ready to see other wildlife and scenery... yes!  I took them to the north side of Spieden Island and found some bald eagles, looking regal in the sunshine.  Pretty scenery, harbor porpoise, seals... just a very nice day.

A view of the boat after we got back to the dock...

Joan and I went out for our "Parents Day" supper after she closed the office.  Then came back to the boat and opened cards from our sweet daughter.  Then, another visit with our girl on the phone (we also talked this morning).  Being able to give our sweet girl a hug would make the day even better, but this was pretty darn nice.

:-)

Stephanie posted this old family photo on FaceBook today...

Steph was about 2, Joan looks like she was 12, and I was a hairball (nice sideburns, Dad).  See that case Joan is holding in her right hand?  That was a camera case... she was my "roadie" back then.  ;-)

Soooo many smart remarks come to mind looking at the photo but since it's Father's Day I'll refrain. But it's really difficult....... The 60's and 70's were not America's greatest years when it came to fashion! ;-}

You aren't still wearing a leisure suit are you, Mark?? ;-)

Senior pic was in a powder blue leisure suit, wide collar shirt, and the necessary chain that my dad hated. 1977 was a great year!!! Thank goodness I couldn't grow sideburns!!!

Stylin'! I'm a bit older than you - I wore a real suit, with a tie for my senior portrait. That photo above was from around 1974 or 75... and, obviously, I could grow sideburns. ;-)
