Slooooooooooooooooowww...

If you're gonna play, you gotta pay.

Not really sure what that means, but today was chore day: our work week starts again tomorrow, so today (after a nice leisurely breakfast out), we walked to "the other" store to get groceries we didn't want to carry on the scoots yesterday, like fresh fruit, fresh made pasta, etc.  A trip to Ace Hardware - not for hardware, they carry Soda-Stream syrup.  Then to Kings Market - where they had mini-cinnamon rolls for the first time in weeks.  Laundry to do.  General clean-up around the boat.

All that to say: we didn't play with the scoots or go anywhere with the boat today.  The wind is up, so I was glad to not be "out there"... the whales don't seem to care if the water is rough, but whale watchers do.  ;-)

The marina is filling up, and town is busy - people have started to arrive for the upcoming holiday weekend.

When I clicked on the computer this afternoon, it was slow loading.  REALLY slow.  Checking my phone, it revealed we only had 3G service - we have been blessed with 4G LTE service here since just before we left last year.  Joan pulled up the local newspaper online and discovered that a major communications cable was cut on Lopez Island, affecting telephone and data between the islands.  No emergency 911 service.  And, little to no data speed for those of us who rely on the internet for news and entertainment.  What little service we get currently is slower than dial-up.

I forgot what crappy internet speed is like, since we generally get 4G almost everywhere we travel these days.

Yeah, I know: sounds like a "first world" problem, huh?
