The hand-over...

Joan and I started the final cleaning on Wild Blue this morning.  Not too long after we got there, Tim and Mary arrived... "We don't want to interrupt you," Tim said.

"Hey, it's your boat!"

Joan stayed on the boat to continue the interior cleaning, while I rode with Tim and Mary to show them the trailer and meet the folks who have done the haul-out on Wild Blue the last couple years.  When we came back to the boat, Joan was still hard at it -  anything we would have tried to do inside would have put us in her way.

So, Tim went to work, changing the registration numbers...

Like all of us guys "of a certain age," the knees and back can only handle so much of being crouched down.  Tim and Mary swapped places...

Slowly at first, then quicker, Wild Blue gave up her old registration numbers.  We had turned the boat a bit in the slip to make it less of a reach.  I suggested we rotate the boat in its slip to do the other side - Mary had a much fast solution...

One could come to the conclusion that Wild Blue will still have a hard-working blonde onboard.  ;-)  Oh, Tim did his share, too...

Of course, there were the comments from passersby, "Wow, she must have had a really good time last night!"

My response, "Some boats have a wooden figurehead - we put a live one on here!"

About the time they got the last of the numbers and state registration stickers off, I saw a C-Dory pull up behind Wild Blue... it's R-Matey!  Carrying our friends, Joe and Ruth.  They came to tell us good-bye and to meet the new owners.  Very fitting, since our first trip to the San Juan Islands was in company with Joe and Ruth and their (then) R-Matey.

Ruth kindly offered to take our photo...

... before they headed off again.  Before I could get a photo.

With the boat clean, it was time for her former crew to go check on their kitty and take a break... and let Tim and Mary take it all in, without anyone else around.  Here they are with their new boat...

We'll go over some systems and procedures later today and tomorrow.  Wild Blue is looking good, and her new owners are excited to start their new adventures with her!

Tim and Mary are keeping the name. I have no doubt there will be plenty more adventures on Wild Blue. We took the boat out for some orientation today; more of that tomorrow, then they are off.

Man, we're happy for all FOUR of you. What a great transition!

Tim, if you keep the boat in the NW, we'd fly out sometime for a boat ride.

Agree, Tim, you gotta keep a blog going--we're all hooked..........

Real nice, Ron. All that time we had the boat, you never asked about going out for a ride.
