I like Buc-ee's!!

But, I don't get out much.

Buc-ee's is a gas station/fun stop.  Well, that's what they call it.  I call it a screaming hot deal on diesel: everyone else around the New Braunfels area was charging $3.65 to $3.79 per gallon for diesel.  We paid $3.13 per gallon at Buc-ee's.  It is a HUGE station, with dozens and dozens of fuel pumps...

But, that is just the start - inside, the store is, likewise, HUGE...

You want Texas BBQ?  They've got it...

You want other snacks?  How about 50 different kinds of jerky and meat sticks?  Maybe you'd rather have bakery stuff?  How about a bunch of different kinds of fudge?  Bags and bags of other kinds of snacks...

And, the cleanest restrooms around.

We generally stop at Flying Js when RVing - not the cheapest option for fuel, but they do have RV lanes at most of their stations, so we know we will fit.  Forget that - Buc-ee's is my new favorite!  And, it isn't a greasy truck stop.

Other good news: a tailwind.  Really.  Most of the day.  Oh, we're going to pay for that tomorrow, when the weather is supposed to change, making for an ugly head or cross wind, but today, we got 11.65 miles per gallon.  Yes, towing the HitchHiker.  I like that, too!

Heading through the Ft. Worth area, we saw a billboard for a QT with diesel for $3.39.  Not competitive with Buc-ee's, but the best price we saw as we rolled through the Ft. Worth area.  When we got to that station, the price was $3.29 - bonus.  The cloud behind that silver lining: we had to get in line with the big trucks; autos only at the front pumps.  Yeah, we had to wait.  Yeah, I had to go inside - twice.  Traffic was moderately ugly once we got back on the road.

We did make a couple RV-recon stops.  And down for the night at a quiet RV park, about a mile off the Interstate.

$3.13 for diesel.  I think it has been a couple years since I've seen that.  Thank you, Buc-ee.  It's true what they say: "Squirrels are OK, but beavers rule!"

Those Buc-ee's are incredibly large. Last year in Arizona drove by what looked like a very very large industrial site that was being built (seemingly endless gas pumps) which turned out to being a Buc-ee's being built. The size of a super Walmart but really just a huge 7-Eleven. Enjoy your travels - soon we'll have the View on the road to Arizona (keeping in Phoenix and flying in during the winter to get away from the snow from time to time).

How do you like the View? We looked at one today. Does that motor have enough pull, especially up hill? We took a short test drive in one when we were in Phoenix a couple weeks ago. Seemed very nice, but not much time to really check it out.

Restrooms not only clean, but beautiful -- unique!

We love our View. We have put on 55k miles in the last 2.5 years and never had any issues with the power of the engine - all the passes in Colorado, Canadian Rockies, and Alaska this year. We have the I5 in ours compared to the V6 in the new ones. We don't tow (except for 5 miles to launch the CD22).

We love how it drives, easy u-turns, easy to find a parking spot (we can park in a normal parking spot and just back onto a grass area and only use one spot), 18mpg for us (60mph), diesel, etc

The Yahoo Winnebago View owners site has a lot of information on towing/etc.

We love the size of our CD22 so the View feels like a luxury condo.

It'll be in Phoenix (stored while we are home) this winter - you'd be welcome to try it out.

Thanks for the info, Robert. The View is on our short list. Any issue with not having leveling jacks?

No, we don't have any issues with not having leveling jacks. Many folks have had HWH Leveling system added (about $4k). We are more Travelers than Campers, so we pretty much only stay anywhere for a night or two at the most. Some folks notice movement when walking around in the View, but we don't at all (not sure why they do). Many folks that have the HWH system state that they would not have the View without them, so they most work good.

Let me know if you have any other questions as I have been on the View owners site for the last 3 years daily. PM me via C-Brats if needed.
