Take me out to the ballgame...

Guys' day out.  Joan stayed with Steph this afternoon, Dan and I went to a spring training ballgame.

Dan is from Wisconsin, so there was no question where we going: off to see the Brewers play the Cincinnati Reds.  Dan is a baseball fan; well, an all-round sports fan.  I enjoy the professional sports experience... and the stadium food.  Dan has been to this training stadium before, it was my first time here.  Nice field and stadium...

Spring training games are big business in the Phoenix area; and a bargain for those who like to see professional baseball.  Our seats were on the first base line, right alongside the Brewers' dugout...

With the seats checked out, it was time for some Wisconsin-style stadium food: I had fried Wisconsin cheese curds and a Jumbo Dog, Dan had "Brachos"...

That is fried chips (potato chips, not nacho chips), with sliced brat meat, cheese, jalapenos, and sour cream.  A "taste of home" for Dan.

We watched the pre-game activity - the autograph seekers were right in front of our seats, getting their items signed by Brewers players...

That is another great thing about the spring training games: you are up close to the game and the players - they have the opportunity (if they choose) to interact with fans.

It was a good game; the Brewers are 0-5 for the season so far, so we were looking forward to a win.  By the 3rd inning, the Brewers were up 2-0.  Good seats to see the action up close...

Of course, it isn't a good game without some kind of mascot race - here, it is racing weiners...

About this time, my camera batteries were about to crap out.  I had to save a shot for the final score... so not a lot of other "action shots."

The Brewers got a home run with one man on - the crowd was definitely heavier on the Brewers' side, and they were feeling the win.

Top of the ninth, the Reds scored three runs and left two men on base - it was looking like this final inning might get very interesting.

In the end, the Brewers stopped the Reds and ended the game...

Dan (and the rest of the Brewers fans) was a happy boy.  I enjoyed our guy-time... and the food... and the warm sunshine (high in the mid-80s).

Back to their house, Steph continues to recuperate.  Not sure if she and Joan had as much fun as Dan and I, but she is looking and sounding better.  Her birthday is two days away... I don't think she will be up for much partying, but maybe a short outing for lunch or something.
