Do it again, we like it...

Another day with transient Orcas.  I never take it for granted, and it doesn't get old.

We had a charter today, with a departure an hour later than our normally scheduled trip.  That meant little Izzy got to have more "outdoor time" this morning.  She was a happy girl...

With our trip going out later, it means a better chance that someone has found whales.  45 minutes before our departure... bingo!  And, only 40 minutes away.  It had the makings of an easy day.  When we got there, they were playing "hide & seek"... going on deep dives, then appearing somewhere you didn't anticipate.  On the bright side, they were active, so our guests enjoyed a good viewing.  The battery in my little pocket camera crapped out after only a couple shots...

When we were ready to head out, we left the whales slowly, getting ample opportunity for "last looks."  We took the "scenic route" home, through the Wasp Islands, getting the chance to see some bald eagles.  Coming into Friday Harbor, there was a Stellar Sea Lion just outside the harbor - first I've seen that!

A beautiful day, weather-wise... and for wildlife viewing.

-------------------------

There was a small private boat out there today that was running right up on the whales.  Repeatedly.  First time in quite a while that I haven't seen a law enforcement boat keeping an eye on boaters around the whales.  Judging by the behavior, the couple must have thought they were not bound by the same laws as everyone else.  You would think when you see every other boat staying 200 yards away, they may know something.  Frustrating to see such stupid behavior.
