This is gettin' real...

We did some running today, waiting for the rain to pass.

First trip: into town to pick up some groceries.  We knew if we took our rain gear, it wouldn't rain.  Well, it was chilly, but nothing fell from the sky.

Second trip: to the company base at the boss's place.  Joan picked up her final check, I turned in my final hours, and we returned freshly laundered uniforms and jackets.  Jacob (the boss's right hand man) said, "I can't believe this summer has gone so fast!"

Yep.  The office operations for both boat locations and the kayak excursion trips have moved to this space.  Usually one or two people in this office, today there were 5... and no need to be in uniform.  No public access here, it is about 3 miles out of town.

With the uniforms returned, we are officially done.

From there, we went into town for a late lunch.  I had fish... if you deep fry it enough, it almost doesn't taste fishy.  ;-)  Washed it down with some buffalo wings.  To quote someone near and dear to me, "What part of the buffalo do the w... uhhh, nevermind." (No, it wasn't Joan.)

On the way home, we stopped to get a couple archive photos for the scooter tag game, then took the scenic route.  Along the way, we saw more evidence of the storm this past weekend: a big tree busted off near the base; a fence propped up with 45º angle 2x6s, windrows of pine needles on the wooded parts of the road.  Plus, it was chilly and windy.  The little bit of sun we had went back behind the clouds.  The wind has a bite to it.  Wearing our winter foul-weather gear (Gortex coats), the hands and legs still felt the chill.

Time to settle in and turn on the heat.

Got the current scooter tag: your scooter in the dirt...

That sign on the tree says: Beware of Dog - Stay in Car!

Yeah, just what I wanted to see when I'm on the scoot.
