The wedding and heading south...

The wedding was very nice...

Proof who was involved in the truck decorating.  On to the ceremony (and, no, I was not the photographer)...

The kids, spouses, and grandkids were their attendants.  A nice family event...

Rob and Sharon are a great couple.  I have no doubt that they will be very good for each other.  Rob, I have known since he was 5 years old... because I was dating his pretty blonde sister.  Sharon we just met last year, and couldn't be more delighted that these two found each other.

We enjoyed more family time at the reception (including the opportunity to meet Sharon's family - she comes from "good stock"); then said our good-byes.  We will be heading out first thing in the morning.

We dropped off the rental car (put a whole 6 miles or so on it), then headed south on I-35.  There is a lot of construction on I-35W, north of Ft. Worth...

And, of course (as evidenced by the flag above), a headwind.

Down the road a ways, we came across some smoke...

A trailer was on fire!  These folks were having a very bad day...

Traffic slowed to a crawl - "Keep moving!"  You could feel the heat through the windshield!

Further south, almost to Temple, our first stop...

Check out that round sign on the far side of the road.  Yep, it is...

Yeah, it is Buc-ee's!  23¢ per gallon cheaper for unleaded than the station on the other side of the Interstate!  I LIKE Buc-ee's!

Joan got some coffee/latte thing, I picked up a pulled pork BBQ sandwich.  And time to roll again.  We got off the Interstate at this intersection.  I was less than thrilled with 281 going north - we'll see if the east route (heading south) is any better...

Good road.  And, there are flowers...

Far enough north, there are "growing seasons" here, and the fields are coming alive...

Some construction, but nothing bad, and very light traffic...

Lush, leafy trees...

Oh, and did I mention: flowers...

We called ahead at a campground that sounded decent from the reviews - nope, no sites available (the snowbird migration north is well underway).  Joan found us another; Passport America, so about half the price of the first place she called.  Punch it into the GPS.  Crossing a bridge as we got close...

We pulled into the park, in the town of Goliad - they have plenty of sites available.  The owner said, "Pick a site you like, then come back to register."  $15 for Passport members.  Nice quiet place, and the timing is good: we are ready to be done for the day.

After getting hooked up, we put out some chairs to enjoy what was left of the day...

And, little Izzy was happy to have some leash time outside...

A lotta miles over the past few days; we should be home tomorrow.
