SPI biking...

Nothing to do with Beach 'n Biker Fest.  I'm talking bicycles.

Yesterday, we chose to subject ourselves to a couple car dealers.  That was more than enough to last us for a while.  Today was about trying to new bike rack on the road and riding our bikes on South Padre Island.

The rack is great.  Solid.  The bikes go on and off quickly and efficiently...

I stopped before getting on the 2 1/2 mile long causeway, just to check the rack - all looks good, so we headed off at 55 mph.  We pulled into some beach access parking and unloaded bikes...

They made the short ride on the rack just fine.  The island is great for bike riding - very flat.  Two of the three north/south streets have bike lanes.  And you are never more than a block or so from the water...

We stopped for lunch at the Palms.  Something we haven't seen before...

Posts by the beach that you can lock your bike to.  Right outside the restaurant.  Very handy.

Lunch was good.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous.  Right around 80º by mid-afternoon, not much breeze, but we make our own with the bikes.  We rode up the island on the main road through town, then along the bay and the Gulf on the other two roads.  Just a very pleasant day on the bikes...

That is the Laguna Madre in the background.  And, the day wouldn't be complete without a selfie from Joan...

Nice way to spend the day.
