Big Sky...

Rolling across Montana.

It was a gray, chilly morning... 35º when we got up.  We cleaned up, pulled up the jacks, and rolled.  Miles to make.

Some steep grades up and down as we rolled east.  Beautiful views, changing greenery.  The weather weasels were calling for rain along our route... we got a few drops on the windshield around Livingston, but that was it.

I have to admit that I felt a little disappointment as we rolled by the Yellowstone and Grand Tetons signs, pointing south.  Weather, fires... we'll make our way back there another time.  The Tetons are one of my favorite places to visit.

The valley that heads towards Yellowstone from this area...

Leaving a rest area, a truck pulling this Cutwater pulled out ahead of us (Cutwater is part of the Ranger Tug line of boats)...

A glimpse of the Yellowstone River...

The first sight of some blue sky today...

And the changing terrain as we rolled east: going from mountainous to rolling hills; starting to look more like eastern Wyoming...

Approaching Crow Agency (near the Little Bighorn Battle Site), we saw this sign...

How do you pronounce that??

Crossing into Wyoming, we passed a couple lush (irrigated) valleys...

Most of this area is high plains - rolling hills, more scrub-brush than trees.  We stopped to fuel up in Sheridan, WY (least expensive gas so far this trip) and picked an RV park... the reviews are a lot better than where we stayed last night.  Nice guy at the office, the sites are level, and they have decent cable TV... last night we had a choice of ABC or FOX (over the air).  Yes, we have DISH satellite TV, but you have to call to get them to transmit the local network channels - we generally don't mess with that if we are just over-nighting.

Since Izzy didn't get to go for a walk yesterday, I took her out...

She is a good little traveler; spends most of her time in her bed in back.  Joan brought her up front for a while today, but she seems to prefer the security of being nestled in back.  I haven't been able to teach her to drive, yet... I wouldn't mind taking a nap while we're rolling down the highway.

;-)
