A perfect day for being out on the boat...

The weather was perfect: a 66º start to the day, lots of sunshine.  Well, for a few minutes, there was a bit of fog that rolled in...

Yes, it would be a perfect day for a boat ride.  Except... we have an air conditioner service guy coming this morning, and a Dish Satellite TV tech coming this afternoon.  I believe it is a conspiracy.

It took a couple hours for the a/c guys to replace stuff under warranty.  I trust these guys, but wanted to be there while they were working.  Joan wanted to clean and eliminate stuff in the storage area under our deck... so, we are here.

When the a/c guys were done (all seems to be working fine), I went to the boat to fit the cover we picked up yesterday.  Made specifically for this boat, it uses Tracker Marine's new attachment system... pretty cool, using special clips that fit in the new rails instead of snaps.  The clips are easy to install or remove.  The cover itself should come with one other option: an engineering degree.  It took me 15 minutes just to find what I hoped was the front... and then saw a small tag labeled "Front."  It is a handful, not going to be a 5 minute set up job...

It is not pulled tight in the photo above; there are 4 posts that go under the cover to keep it up in the middle so the rain will run off it.  It will be more snug in actual use.  I puttered while Joan continued her clean-up task.  After a lengthy download for the charts for the GPS, I set it up with my preferences.  It's a nifty little Raymarine unit... same brand that we had in Wild Blue on a much smaller scale; but with the electronic advances, it does a lot of stuff for a very good price.  Might be fun to actually take it out on the water... soon.

I fine-tuned the lines and fenders at the dock, setting them up with clips to make it faster and easier to tie off when we come in.  You know, assuming we go out on the boat one of these beautiful days.  Did I mention that today would be a perfect day to be out on a boat?  'Cause it would.  In fact, as the afternoon wore on, our west exposure at the dock started feeling pretty darn warm.  As it: it got to 80º this afternoon.  Joan brought down a towel that she clipped to the bimini, giving me shade.  Welcome to the RedNeck Yacht Club.  ;-)

Joan worked with the Dish tech while I finished with the boat stuff... occasionally stopping to answer where I wanted the new Dish, the cable, etc.  Yep, a beautiful day...

You can see how much dock we have "left over" with the boat there.

I walked around to the other side of the canal to get a photo...

See the towel clipped to the bimini?  Worked great.  Joan finished up with the Dish tech, and we called it a wrap.  A busy day.  Woulda been a good boat day, but apparently you have to do grown-up stuff that is scheduled, even when you get a new boat.

Just kidding - glad to have that stuff done because tomorrow I plan to get out on the boat; and not just while it's tied to the dock.
