Guys' Day...

Friends Leonard and Doris are here; they have a home here (as well as up north) and are here to check on their place and get their fill of hot and humid.  I invited them for a boat ride today.

Doris was feeling a little under the weather, so it was just Leonard; Joan said, "Why don't you two make it a Guys' Day?  I'll shove you off - go enjoy some boat time."

First day in a while that the wind wasn't howling.  As we motored down the canal, we could see a drilling rig being pulled down the ship channel... since we didn't have an agenda, besides getting out on the boat, we headed for the drilling rig...

Heading that way for a closer look, we had a couple visitor, up close and personal...

We watched dolphins for a bit, then headed for the ship channel once again.  Leonard was kicked back, enjoying the ride...

'Cause that's what you do on a pontoon boat.  ;-)

The drilling rig is TALL; there are 4 large tugs maneuvering down the ship channel...

We followed it for a while... watching the tugs coordinating their movements... but, mostly we visited... catching up.

I've known Leonard for about 13 or 14 years.  He had a Nimble Nomad back when we had a Corsair trimaran.  We both added smaller sailboats to the fleet: his a Potter 19, ours a SunCat.  And when I first considered getting a powercruiser, he is the one who said, "You should look at a C-Dory."

"A C-Dory!  That's a great idea!  What's a C-Dory?"  ;-)  Lots of water under the keep since then, including a chance meeting in 2009 when we were both cruising the Erie Canal.

Nice to visit with my friend.
