A new record...

More tailwind today.  Seemed stronger.  We managed a new record high of 10.77 miles per gallon.  That may seem bleak for a Prius driver, but it ain't bad for a house!

Our route was mostly north, with the occasional foray east or west - grateful that those east/west portions were short... it made for an awful crosswind.

For the most part, the roads today were pretty straight...

Crossing from Kansas into Nebraska, it became more rolling hills...

The roads were reasonably decent through Nebraska.  We made a turn into southern Iowa, and the roads turned to crap...

In that photo directly above, those dark lines across the road were repairs... and felt like 60 miles of driving over speed bumps and rumble strips.  It was miserable!  Really, there should be warning signs posted on US Hwy 59 in southern Iowa.

Joan tried to take my mind off the constant pounding by taking some photos...

"No, I don't want to smile, dammit!"

I recall the Iowa state song from my youth: "Iowa, Iowa, that's where the tall corn grows..."  Lots of argriculture...

If the flag in the above photo isn't a good idea of how strong the wind was blowing, here are some trees...

I am guessing 35 mph plus.  I was already slowed down for the crap roads.  It seemed like a very long driving day.

I'm looking forward to seeing my brother-in-law tomorrow.  And, a day or two (or three) of not making miles.

Down for the day, and relaxing.  Little Izzy peeked over my computer: "Would a walk make your day better?"

"Yeah, Iz, it probably would."
