Hanging with my homies...

We started looking for best routes and RV sites for the way home.  As I mentioned in an earlier post, there are hurricane related issues in much of southeast Texas.  Some RV parks (private and gov't) are full with evacuees.

We are enjoying where we are; booked a couple extra nights.  We'll have to change sites for the last night and move a couple sites down.  No problem - we'll need to make a stop at the RV dump site anyway.

We have the TV on... the hurricane coverage is almost as unrelenting as Irma.  The networks have reporters staged all over Florida... that is a lot of people standing out in the rain and wind, telling viewers that they should not be standing out in the wind and rain.

It is ugly, but it seems that each reporter is trying to out-do "this is so bad" with their location.  Hoping for safe passage for all in the path.

In the meantime, Joan, Izzy, and I are just kicking back.

many of the wind speed reports were over stated by 20 mph or more. It passed over our house and we lost a few roof shingles and our fence was blown down, otherwise, no damage. And the power is already back on.

So glad you came through relatively unscathed, John and Kathy. Sounds like some parts of Florida took more of a beating. Of course, the media seems to prefer showing the sensational. The path Irma finally took played a big part in minimizing the damage potential. Of course, those in the Keys (big wind) and Jacksonville (flooding) may not go along with that assessment.
