Relaxing...

Maybe I should have titled this post "Power of Suggestion."

There had been some discussion on one of the forums I frequent about Waffle House - about the food and the fact that they are one of the businesses that do their best to stay open, even during natural disasters.  Someone from FEMA called it "the Waffle House Index" - if Waffle House is closed, the damage is bad.  There are two Waffle House restaurants in the greater Houston area that closed - one because it was flooded, the other because any roads leading to it were flooded - the rest (29) are all open.

All that talk about Waffle House reminded me of the first time I took Joan to a Waffle House (I had eaten at them in my band days, and they were a delight after a steady diet of 2:00am truck stop food) - it was in Key Largo, Florida.  Years ago.  I wonder how that WH is doing as Irma is beginning to impact the Keys?

I mentioned all this to Joan last night.  This morning, she said, "You want Waffle House today, don't you?"

"I wouldn't turn it down."

Breakfast at Waffle House was good, thanks for asking.

Back to the motorhome, I was in need of a haircut... nice to get properly coiffed while enjoying a park-like view, and watching the geese play on the water.

Followed by an hour or so of music on the patio, featuring Captain Jim and his carbon fiber X7 guitar.

Followed by more biking around the park.  Joan was curious to know what the "drop" in the lock at this particular dam is... we rode to each side to get as close as we could (the lock is fenced off for civilians) and determined: somewhere between 14 and 20 feet.  Looking it up when we got back: right around 20 feet currently.  And, though we haven't seen any traffic using the lock, it is "one of the busiest locks on the 447-mile McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System for commercial purposes."

After the bike ride, a short nap.  :-)

In between these events, little Izzy got to walk and sit out with us.  She really likes this place.

We do, too.
