And the results...

It poured down rain last night.  If we had any gullies around here, it would have been a gully-washer.  When we got up this morning, I went down to the boat to see how the new helm cover did... since this would be quite the test.

The rest of the boat was soaked (no problem), the helm was completely dry.  A very successful project!

There are still a few projects, but today was declared a "We Should Take The Boat Out" kinda day.  The daily forecast was calling for rain, but the hourly predictions look like we should be able to get out there for a few hours.

I wiped the boat down and got it ready, Joan brought soda and refreshments, and we shoved off.  There was a patch of blue sky right over us, but plenty of gray in all directions - the water looked pretty, though...

Going through the turning basin, only one other boat - coming up behind us, and passing less than a boat length away...

Another SunTracker pontoon, smiles and waves.

About that sky...

Yeah, I think we'll stay under this bit of blue, enjoying the scenery, the boats, the birds...

And, our first view of a dorsal fin...

"Camera or helm?" I asked Joan.  The answer...

With the boat in idle...

Yep, right up to the boat - here they come...

Joan was talking to them, and they swam to her...

Around the boat...

Some faces for the camera...

We drifted along, enjoying their company.

A tail underwater, right next to the boat...

When it was time to head for home, a wave good-bye...

This is my idea of "a Sunday drive."   :-)

Marty, the dolphin encounters here are a delight! They do look tiny, though, after getting to spend time with the Orcas in the PNW. ;-)
