South of the border...

Another trip to Mexico to get the replacement crown.  Other than the hour and 10 minute wait (yes, I had an appointment), it went slick and easy.  The young lady who did most of the final fitting was thorough and friendly - only saw the dentist for a few minutes, when he did the actually gluing in place.  That makes more trips to Mexico in the past three months than we've made in the last 5 years.

That trip put us in the "big city" (Harlingen) for some lunch, shopping, then a stop at the storage unit to put some stuff in the motorhome.  A productive day; not bad with traffic and crowds considering the holiday shoppers.

Kinda shoots the heck out of the day, so no music, no boat content, no scooter stuff, not even photos of an incredibly cute kitty.

Whew!

------------------------

Not long after I posted the above, there was the sound of a loud engine in the next canal over - what I call: our exit canal.  Joan said, "If you want to walk some garbage around, you can check - but I'm guessing that noise is the dredge in that canal."

Good way to get me to take out the garbage.  ;-)

My favorite view from our house...

The view down our canal...

Then, walking to the dumpsters and the next canal (with the scene brightened in the camera/phone)...

Yep, they are now in that canal.  Francisco, the dredge operator saw me standing by the seawall and came over... we visited for a bit.  He didn't want to say how long it would take them to do this canal, because of all the problems they've had, like breakdowns and running into debris in the canal.  "If we don't run into problems, maybe three weeks)."  Since we are now into month 15 of a 6 month project, the odds are pretty good there will be "problems."

I feel for them - they are a hard-working bunch.  I know there are people on the island who are mad at the dredge operation, but this crew is doing all they can to get the job done.  At this point, they are hoping they will get the 24th and 25th off... but not sure.  It was dark, and they were still working today.

Our boat is in our driveway (having pulled it out when we could), but I think we'll just call the season a wrap and put it in our storage unit.  We didn't know if they would be working in that exit canal (truly, they didn't know for sure), and we had talked about launching and retrieving the same day to get some time on the boat... but, the ramp is about a mile from our house and there is no trailer parking there.  Logistics (like where to put the CR-V and trailer, since we can't get to our dock with the boat) would be a real pain in the butt.  So, we may be back to a kayak outing if I really need some time on the water.

In the grand scheme of things, a little disappointing, but not a big deal.  I do miss seeing our dolphins, though.
