This is the day...

In spite of what the retail stores, TV advertising, and all the businesses who keep sending "BUY NOW!" e-mails, today is the real start of the Christmas season.

Yes, on this day, December 2nd, we decorate the house for Christmas.  Easy to remember because it is also our anniversary (Happy Anniversary, Joe & Ruth - we share this day with them).

I take a particular joy in decorating outside when the temperature is pushing 80ยบ... could do without the 80% humidity.

Some of you may remember the times we participated in the Lighted Boat Parade (even took a couple 1st Places in our size category).  Seems that the Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce (who canceled the parade last year due to cold and wind) let the running of the parade go to the South Padre Island Convention and Visitors Bureau.  We hadn't seen any advertising or notifications about the parade until last night... it is going to be tonight.  It wouldn't be the first time we had participated in the parade on our anniversary, but not tonight.  I would have considered it IF I had more time to prepare and IF the dredge pipe wasn't an issue - tough enough in the daylight, but it could be a real pain in the butt in the dark.

So, the lights are hung on our deck.  Our little tree is up.  Other decorations are scattered about... yeah, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  Well, Christmas in the Tropical Tip.

We may go down to the ICW (walking or biking) to see the boats this evening.  Even if we aren't in it, it is still a lot of fun to watch.

And, now I'm going to say it: Merry Christmas!
