Stephanie sees dolphins!

Should I have first announced a "spoiler alert"?

It's a long-running joke regarding Steph's less than enthusiasm for boats being the karma that kept her from seeing dolphins over the years.  For full disclosure, the last few times they've been here, we've seen dolphins.

It was a breezy morning; we started it with breakfast at Pier 19, so Steph could get a look into some of our morning routines.  Like a "leaning" restaurant.  Hey, it's on a pier; there has been some settling.

Back home, I prepped the boat while Joan and Steph got things ready to go on it.  Off we go...

Out and around...

The first view of a dorsal fin...

Some tail...

It wasn't huge groups of dolphins, but some came calling...

More dolphins down the ship channel - that is a Mexican Navy ship in the far background...

Did someone say "Dolphins!"?

Looking down the ship channel to the west...

Bait Shrimpers.   And, dolphins...

Steph also wanted to see some pelicans...

Once she had seen the wildlife she wanted to see...

Are you sure you aren't a millennial?  Maybe she was texting Dan to tell him about the dolphins?

Coming into the turning basin, a couple ocean supply vessels and the dredge McFarland...

Just before turning into our canal, we saw this sailboat across the ICW from us...

It's at the dock, so the flailing sail isn't that big of a deal.  Well, it isn't good for the sail, but it doesn't put them in peril.  Apparently, the jib sheets got away from them.  For you non-sailors, the jib sheets are the lines (ropes) used to control the headsail.  Have you heard the phrase "3 sheets to the wind" to describe a drunk person?  If the sheets are loose, you have no control... thus, like a drunk person staggering around.  And that is your boat lesson for the day.  ;-)

Rufus was happy to see us when we got back.  We sat out on the deck so he could have some outdoor time.  Well, they sat out while I put the boat away... and Rufus walked back and forth on the deck, keeping an eye on me.  Yeah, he's my boy!
