Looking back...

No, this isn't going to be a post about reminiscing.  After some chilly and rainy days, we had some scootin' to do.  And, I could hear the cheese curds and burgers in Custer calling my name.

Only one camera today: the little Akaso V50 Pro.  I decided to give it a try as a helmet cam again.  Gearing up...

Rolling through Hart Ranch...

Out onto Neck Yoke Road...

A right turn on South Rockerville Road...

We stopped in Keystone so I could switch the camera around to facing backwards...

And on to Iron Mountain Road...

A video from the helmet cam...

And through one of the splits...

Yes, a lot of photos of Joan on the PCX - this was my first real effort with using the camera backwards on the helmet, and using my phone as the controller.

This is definitely better than holding a DSLR over my shoulder and hoping I got her somewhere in the viewfinder.  ;-)

Rolling through Custer State Park...

The traffic was light until about 2/3 of the way through the park, when a pickup camper had quite a line of traffic behind him.  We rode the conga line until we were out of the park and able to pass.

There was quite a crowd waiting outside Black Hills Burger & Bun Co.; we put our name in and went for a walk.  This will give you some idea of the size of the buffalo art statues in town...

Not to scale - a bull buffalo would be taller than Joan... and not so complacent about having her lean on his head!

A marker telling about the discovery of gold in the Black Hills...

The FLICK cabin (an early cabin here in Custer), restored...

Nice wild flowers (above) on the grounds of the Custer County Court House.

By the time we got back to the restaurant, the benches out front were unoccupied.  We didn't have to wait long before our table was ready.  The burgers and cheese curds were, again, excellent.

We gassed up before leaving town, then decided to go back the same way we came.  Yes, it would be faster to take the highway, but it is hard to beat these great riding roads.  And, looking ahead (instead of back), I can see our time here getting short.  (relative term)

In the low to mid-70s today, with a southerly wind.  Great riding conditions.  More riding to come before we think about heading out.

I like the Rearview-- Another nice ride.. Thanks..

Now you need a "Rufis" Handlebar bag-- I wonder what he would think of that??

I don't think Rufus is ready for a ride on the handlebars. Perhaps one of these...
