A late afternoon outing...

Before heading out, we drove down the street on the next canal, to see what is going on with the dredge: it still isn't connected to any pipes, but it is now out of the middle of the canal and NOT tied off to the docks... we can get through.

I asked Rufus if he wanted to go with us...

Seems he is in the middle of a power nap.  We shoved off...

If you look close to that photo above, the dredge is in the middle, but not in our way - it is actually towards the nature side of the island.  Where it isn't in the way.  As it should have been before.

Heading down the canal...

Out the canals, into the ICW, and just enjoying a ride.  Looking ahead, we see only one other boat out there...

That is friends Mike and M.J. in their new boat - first we've seen it out and about.  Looks good!  They were doing a bit of dolphin watching with another couple.  Not a lot of dolphin activity today, but nice to see them...

Before heading different directions, M.J. mentioned my new look...

It was a full-service dentist I went to: while working on my mouth, I could get a shoe shine and a bunch of new tattoos.

Or not.

Mike and M.J. headed east in the ship channel; we decided to check out the birds that we could see at a distance...

Spoonbills and pelicans.  Some more views...

This guy was on one of the daymarks...

We wandered back north, into the ICW, and watched a tug pushing a couple barges come through the swing-bridge...

The sun is heading towards the horizon...

Back home, Joan let Rufus out on the deck so he could watch me clean up the boat.  Before settling in for the evening, this view of the western sky...
