Living life...

Could be a song title.

I know there are some who think every day is a play day for us... living on the boat, carefree, walking around singing "Dippity-Do-Dah" in the sunshine.

With the exception of no yard work, chores still have to be done.  We make the bed, we take out the garbage, we pay the bills, and we plan our time off around our "fun summer job" work schedules.  And, unless you are able to do bits of this each day, we take one day a week for laundry, boat clean-up, grocery shopping, and pumping out the holding tank.  I know - sounds like big fun, huh?

Last summer, we had weeks where we didn't see much in the way of time off.  So far, things are going the way Joan negotiated, and we are getting more time off.  Yesterday was an inter-island play day, today has been our "clean-up"day.  Not by accident, mind you - the weather weasels were predicting today to be a rain event.  We did have an hour or so of rain this morning, but it has been cool and pleasant since then; late afternoon, we are having more of a sun event.  ;-)

The grocery shopping is done.  While Joan did laundry, I vacuumed and cleaned up around the boat.  I got a haircut and my beard trimmed (yes, out on the dock - you didn't think we'd want all that hair messing up my vacuuming, didja?).  Izzy got to have a walk on the dock.  We took the satellite dish down from on top of Wild Blue and drove her around to the pump out station.  Joan cleaned windows.  It has been a productive day.  I wouldn't call any of those tasks "vacation-type fun," but they all had to get done.

Joan has an office staff meeting this evening.

But, all this means: tomorrow could be another play day!

The weather weasels were originally calling for rain each day for a week after today... they have backed off on that quite a bit - to the point that it is looking like a decent weekend coming up.  And decent days-off weather next week.  I am hopeful... for the time off and the pleasant weather.

Just a heads up for anyone who deals with the public:  this coming Friday is Friday the 13th. On the full moon.  A week before the summer solstice.  Given the option, I would untie the dock lines and try to find a quiet anchorage away from the partying hordes... but, we have to work.  Wish us luck.

Never judge a day by the weather... Easy to say with a pilothouse boat. ;-)
