Rollercoaster? We don't need no rollercoaster!

We left our site at the Escapees park near Branson.  It isn't big and fancy, but we really like the location and the general feel of the park.

Leaving Branson, heading south, we took a road we haven't been on in a few years.  I was surprised to see this...

It's a Bass Pro Resort.  In different areas we passed, we saw a lodge, hotel, campground and marina, a shooting range... impressive.  I'll have to check that out further next time we are back this way.

Crossing a bridge over one of the arms of Table Rock Lake...

Some twisty, hilly, narrow roads for the first couple hours today...

For the first time in several states, we got passed on a solid double yellow line...

It wasn't like we were holding up traffic - I was driving at or near the speed limit.  The photo above doesn't really show how steep that hill is.

That's the "rollercoaster" reference in the title: steep hills and tight turns... "Um, you may want to be careful when you open any cabinets." ;-)

Topping some of these hills was like the first "climb" on a roller coaster...

You couldn't see the road ahead, then you'd lose your stomach.  The only thing missing was the "clunk, clunk, clunk" of the chain on the rollercoaster!

Pretty scenery all along this two-lane...

Leaving Missouri and into Arkansas...

Another 20 minutes of the narrow curvy roads, and we were onto the Interstate...

Some early fall colors...

I am sure we are a month early for the real pretty foliage.

We did make a couple stops along the way today.  One was for a portable generator.  We had a Honda generator that we used on Wild Blue - it was a real champ.  We also used it on the occasion of power outages at the house.  And, for running lights on the boats for the Christmas Parade.  Joan wanted another generator... pretty sure not for the Christmas parade.  We have received notice that there will be a "scheduled power outage" on our island for needed repairs, likely after we return home.  It's good to be prepared.

Another stop for lunch... at a Subway at a truck stop.  We will be intentionally going beyond our 2/2/2 Rule today, because our next stop is at a US Army Corps of Engineers campground along the Arkansas River... and check-in time isn't until 4:00.

Even dragging our feet, a later than usual departure this morning, and a stop for fuel before pulling into the campground, we were still there a bit early.  No problem - the nice lady at the gate said, "Yes, I have your paperwork right here - you are all paid up and good to go."

Using my "Geezer Card" here gave us a beautiful site for the princely sum of $9 per night.  A bit different from the $75+ RV sites at some of the places out east.  And, they didn't have our view...

Little Izzy got some leash time - makes her a happy girl!

A selfie with the 3 of us on the patio...

Settling in, our view from the dinette...

There are some mountain bike paths here, and it isn't too far from town, for those important lunches out.  ;-)  This should be a nice place to kick back for a while.
