Homeward Bound...

If you said, "Simon and Garfunkel, 1966, from the album "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme", you will 250 bonus points.  50 bonus points only if you just said, "Simon and Garfunkel."

No bonus points if you said, "Your traveling today."  Easy guess.

Blue sky when we left the RV park this morning.  By the time we got to I-37, at the southern edge of San Antonio, the sky had grayed up.  A "sucker hole" amongst the clouds...

Relatively construction-free until we turned off of I-37 just north of Corpus Christi; on to the I-69 "corridor"... they are slowing changing the road from Expressway 77 to I-69, which means making it a "limited access" highway (with exits, instead of crossroads).  Way different from the construction on I-35...

If you can imagine this, the speed limit did not decrease in this construction zone.  Yep, 75 mph, running right next to the work in progress.  Only in south Texas.  Orange cones?  Lane partially blocked?  No lines to mark the side of the road?  No problem - let it rip!

Once south of Corpus, the gray sky turned to mostly blue...

And, the places where the soon-to-be Interstate will have overpasses...

Apparently there has been plenty of moisture in south Texas this season - lots of greenery...

Palm trees as we approached the Tropical Tip...

We stopped at our storage unit to pick up Big Red.  We disconnected the batteries before we left last spring... hooked it all up and she fired right up!  The only issue with the truck: seems that we have a problem with the air conditioner.  Hopefully, it will be just adding some refrigerant, but she is running.  We caravanned the rest of the way to our island.  In the parking lot of the Welcome Center, we switched the cargo trailer from the motorhome to the truck.  Through the security gate; I parked the motorhome and plugged it in - keep that air conditioner going.  We backed the trailer into our driveway and parked the truck.  We are home.

It is 88º and about the same for humidity.  We brought the essentials into the house, turned the a/c down, turned on water, turned on the fridge, and made a check of the house... looks good.  I opened up the hurricane shutters.  Joan checked out all the plumbing.  Little Izzy looked around our small house and said, "We live in a mansion!"  That may have something to do with most of the last 9 months in the motorhome.  ;-)

We put away everything we brought in.  There will be more to do... over the next few days.  We aren't on a schedule.  Joan asked if I had that "feeling of anticipation" in my stomach as we approached home... "Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.  Mostly."  :-)

More work to do to get moved back in, then the clean up on the motorhome before it gets to rest for a while.

:-)
