Anyone remember the old Rob Schneider routine from Saturday Night Live? Ahh, the Jiminator is making copies for renewal of his Master License. That bit was funny, mostly due to the repetitive nature of it all. I spent the morning making copies... 58 pages in all (not including original papers) to submit to the Coast Guard for renewal of my captain's license. Somehow, that repetition wasn't as funny.
I've been through it a couple times. Pretty sure I signed every place I'm supposed to sign. Paid my fees. Packaged it all up. Two months before the license expires... we'll see if that is enough time.

Seems archaic. You'd think the Coast Guard would let you do that online nowadays.
Well, that would sure make more sense, Dave... but, what would happen to all those "paper chasin'" jobs? ;-)
What if it lapses? Do you lose your birthday? Who needs to be a Captain until the summer anyway??
Maybe you should go on strike! The Clerical union in the Port of LA is striking b/c they won't give them 11 weeks of vacation and a raise to nearly $200K a year! Maybe you need one of those licenses.
$200k?? That's more than I make in a whole week! ;-). If you go beyond your issue date, you have a one year grace period, but the license is not effective until you renew. More than a year, and you start all over.
