Another drive day: let's go north beyond where we went before, and drive along the beach... check out the beach towns.
"Izzy, do you want to go for a ride?"
"No, thank you."
Mid-morning, we left the RV park, driving north. From Chula Vista (south of San Diego) north to Dana Point, it is one beach town after another... well, with Camp Pendleton taking a big chuck of some prime California coast land. We were just enjoying the scenery...
Surf's up, dude.
About that "touch & go" in the title: heading south, we pulled into a view area to watch an Osprey doing touch and goes. No, not the feathered kind of Osprey...
Impressive. Back to the drive day...
That is a Lifeguard truck in the image above. We watched along the beach to see if we could catch any of them running in slow motion... nope.
We stopped for a late lunch at a Mexican restaurant Joan found on an advertisement on one of our maps. It turned out to be a great find! Very nice place, indoor and outdoor seating. Yes, we picked outdoor...
The food was tasty, and plenty of it. The margaritas were good (I was driving, so I took Joan's word for that). That photo above - I took that to show Steph the sleeve clips she gave Joan... and that ice cream/churro dessert. Nice way to finish off a fine meal.
An absolutely gorgeous day - clear blue sky, sunshine, a light breeze, and temps around 80ยบ. What's not to like?
Well... traffic...
Truth be told, it slowed us down a bit, but never turned to stop and go. Other than one asshole who sped up when I signaled for a lane change, the drivers were all civil. A couple times, when traffic slowed, we did get passed on the right by motorcycle riders, "splitting lanes." I can see why car drivers don't like that. And, how potentially dangerous it is for the person on the bike.
We made it back in time for Izzy's supper and the sunset. Nice day.
