Moving Day...

Generally when we come to the desert to see Steph and Dan, we stay the whole time at one RV park.  The park that is the closest and most convenient to them apparently missed the class about the most important thing in the hospitality business: being hospitable.  They seem to take great joy in being less than friendly and telling people "no" as much as possible.  At first, I thought they just had something against me, but the reviews on the place reveal that isn't the case.  The park is under new ownership, but they have mostly the same staff, and it seems to be: unpleasant business as usual.

Our latest dealing with them was calling last week to get a site, since we were over a week before our reservation (that we made last year) due to trying to get here as soon as possible for Izzy.  They said, "We are completely full - no sites available."  We even offered to move each night for a week, if that was necessary.  "We are full."

As it turns out, they were full.  Of crap.  Since it is reasonably close to Steph and Dan's home, we did drive through the park a few times this last week... there were always plenty of sites open.  Why a business would turn away anyone when there IS room available is beyond me.  Money lost for them, but they do get "the pleasure" of telling someone "no."

In the meantime, we have stayed the week at a very nice park - one we definitely prefer - but, it is about 30 minutes away from Steph and Dan's home.  They are very nice at this park and the amenities (which we haven't had time to use this week) are more and better.  We don't come to the Phoenix area to stay in any particular park - we are here to see our kid, son-in-law, and their furry family members.

Alas, we will be moving today - going to the park run by butt-heads.  Joan is concerned that they cancelled our reservation when we questioned them about having nothing available this past week.  They have no idea that we have been through the park, so we know they were lying.  We will keep our mouth shut while in the park, but we will find a different place to spend our money next year.

Moving 18 miles takes just as much prep and tear down as moving across the state.  We enjoy traveling by RV... most of the places we stay are very friendly.  Most.  ;-)

-------

On edit: they had our reservation.  We are settling in, and will have the best couple of months here that we can.  A gentleman in the RV next door to us told me this site has been vacant for the last week.  I don't know why the management and staff here need to be so unpleasant.
