Mine? No, that makes it here more than enough. Of course, I am talking about the new kid, Stella...
Such a cute little face. Yes, I am biased. Just like I think Murph is a very smart and handsome boy. Stella isn't too sure about Murphy, yet. He is very curious about her and will get quite close to check her out. She will let out a hiss and a growl if she feels he is crowding her. We have to remind him on occasion to "Give her some space."
In the grand scheme of things, it has been less than two weeks, and I think things are going well. Of course it would make my heart soar like an eagle if she would hop up in my lap and snuggle in... but she is learning that we can be trusted. What I read says that may take a couple months.
--------
This morning, while Murphy and I were out before sunrise, we were treated to this view in the eastern sky...
That color only lasts a few minutes. Timing. On the bright side, sunrise doesn't happen until 7:30 or so, and closer to 8:00 before we see the sun get up above South Mountain.

So sweet, I will need some extra insulin. I may not have commented much but we are certainly following the "New Adventures of Stella", eagerly awaiting each new episode. It is going very well. She has to learn that Big Murphy is an ally, not a threat.
Stella is cute in a way that only kittens can pull off. It is fun to see her explore, find, and play with new toys. (Well, new to her.) She is very playful and will throw soft toys in the air and chase them down. She is quick to hiss at Murphy when he gets close... there have been a couple "slap fights" but no claws. She stands her ground.
Murphy doesn't understand that the close proximity of a BIG cat is intimidating to Stella. There are times when they are nose to nose with no issue, and other times Murphy will walk close by and get hissed at. Joan is quick to intervene, I am more about giving them time to work it out. I have heard Murphy mutter "I didn't do nuthin'!" 12 days - I think it going well.
But, I REALLY want to pick up the little girl... we're taking that part slow.
They will work it out given some time. Stella is still in her wild survival mode. Murphy does not realize that he is bigger than Stella. Just like I don't realize how much bigger I am than other people, until I see us both in photos or a mirror. To me, I *am* normal sized. Maybe on an NFL sideline standing among the linemen perhaps...
I agree, Earl - Stella is learning that her life here is secure. Murphy is a playful boy, and this new addition to the family affects him, too. I am giving him plenty of attention... he and I may need to do a "guys' weekend" sometime.
