I hear that is a good thing for old people like you, Jim.
I would consider that snarky... if it wasn't so true. It is good for cats, too.
Murphy and Stella enjoy naps. And lately, they have been enjoying them in close proximity to each other...
You get a good view of the size difference with this "overhead" shot. But, what I notice most is how sweet they are together. I think two weeks in the "closeness" (is that a word?) of the van brought them together even more. On the bright side, if there are middle of the night zoomies, they are generally happening somewhere besides our bedroom.
I've read that cats sleep 16 hours a day. I haven't found that to be the case, but these two are working on it...
And, later...
Yeah, I may be a party of one who appreciates these images. Well, Joan likes 'em, too, since the first two photos are hers.
So you don't get the idea that these two do nothing but sleep, this shot was taken shortly after the one above...
And, Stella's turn in front of the camera...

Buc-ee's is almost ready!
Monday, June 22nd is opening day for the new Buc-ee's in Goodyear, AZ. "Is that a big deal?" you ask. The local NBC affiliate (Channel 12) will be doing live broadcasts from Buc-ee's throughout the day, including two streaming broadcasts. Motels close to the Buc-ee's location are reporting being sold out for rooms around that date. There are special traffic procedures being put into place by the City of Goodyear for the streets surrounding Buc-ee's, including "no turns across traffic" (you will have to go a half mile beyond Buc-ee's, do a U-turn, then come back so you don't have to cross traffic to enter the Buc-ee's. Arizona DOT has a camera set up to monitor the roads on the entrances to Buc-ee's. I-10 drivers are being encouraged to take alternate routes on opening day and the week following; and are advising drivers that there may be Interstate ramp closures during that time.
So, yeah, it is apparently a big deal.
Steph and Dan are treating us to a Father's Day lunch today (to avoid the crowds on Sunday) a mile or so away from that new Buc-ee's location. I'm guessing we should be away from the fray.

It is always wonderful to see the two kitties cuddling together. They are still young, but will achieve that 16-18 hours of sleep every night. Lucy is 13 and Duke is 7, so both are well past the kitten stage. My problem is that Lucy wants her attention during the dark when I am trying to get my sleep. We usually manage an afternoon nap with her pinning me down by sleeping across my thighs. I got into the nap habit 13 years ago after the brain tumor. It takes a lot of energy to recover from TBI.
I've not heard anything new about the Buc-ee's pending here in Idaho, but it will be about 12 miles east of Boise when/if it happens. I still have not made it to Scheels, which has been open almost two years and is five miles away. It originally had crowds like In-an-Out Burger. I'm allergic to crowds these days. Guess I don't need much camping or hunting stuff anymore....
Hey Earl - Yeah, I get all mushy when I see them being sweet to each other. Murphy is 3 1/2 years old. Stella is 11 months. Whatever breed Murphy is, he continued to grow beyond that 2 year mark, and has filled out across the shoulders/chest. Small breeds like Stella are generally done growing in that 12 - 18 month range. She is going to be a small cat. Definitely still full of kitten energy.
I am amazed by all the hoopla with this Buc-ee's opening. They are getting a bunch of free advertising with the local TV stations. We will give it some time before we get anywhere close to that. Now, Scheels - that has been a good place for us to shop: shorts and performance shirts; they have a lot of stuff besides hunting and camping. I enjoy perusing Scheels, Bass Pro, and Cabela's.
Cabela's is less than a mile from the house and I used to go often. We are well provisioned for outdoor gear now, hence the laxity about hitting Scheel's. Given my full closet with shirts that are still wearing price tags, I really have zero business buying another shirt in this lifetime, no matter how good the sale in my hard-to-find size (3XL Tall). I have stocked up.
Rainy overnight but clear now, with a *humid* high of 79° today. Our bike ride will happen once Alice gets home from her massage after the peak temps.
The fiddle festival in Weiser is all next week, but the forecast is for 95° every day. I might go up Wednesday for the day. It is 75 miles from home on mostly good highways, so only a bit more than an hour away. We'll see.... Weiser has always been a must-go ever since we moved here, but my enthusiasm is waning this year. It seems like most of the folks we used to jam with in the campgrounds have aged out. We sold off our A-liner camper so it has become a commute destination. It is still fun to walk around the campground and sit in on jams. Not so much as we push triple digits.
Triple digit temps take the pleasure out of most outdoor things.
