A nice treat...

Joan had a tough day at work: the overcast here and fog inland had her scrambling to reschedule and accommodate guests who were flying in.  One family who couldn't get out on a seaplane drove to Boeing Field, and she got them out "on wheels" (a plane with landing gear instead of floats).  She drove to the Friday Harbor airport to pick them up, then took them to Roche Harbor... in the middle of getting two full boats out... and dealing with other rescheduling.

She is an amazing example of what customer service at its best is all about.  I could not be more proud of how hard she works to insure the guests have the best experience possible.

Mother Nature made it a challenging day for me on the water, as well... I was taking spray over the top of a tall flybridge... and working to give the guests onboard the best ride possible in the conditions.

I got home (well, back to the boat) a few minutes before she did - she stayed late to take care of some guests.  And, shortly after she got home (hadn't even had a chance to change out of her uniform), we had a visitor: our young friend Sam.  Sam is the Managing Editor of Burrows Bay Media - you PNW boat folks will know that better as the folks who publish the Waggoner Cruising Guide (amongst other publications).  Sam is just completing a circumnavigation of Vancouver Island in his C-Dory 22.  He is an impressive young man.

Joan made us adult beverages, put out a plate of chips and we visited - traded stories of how our individual summers have been going.  Nice conversation.

Then, another visitor: a friend from the TrailerSailor Forum, Chris, who I have corresponded with for years, but haven't met face-to-face before.  Another special treat!  Chris and his wife are up from Oregon, sailing in the area with other trailersailor folks.  We introduced Chris to Sam and kept the conversation going.

That's Sam on the left, Chris on the right.  I was having so much fun visiting, I almost forgot to take a photograph.

A post wouldn't be complete without an Izzy image.  She was being especially cute before I left for work today.   A cat nap...

And then, "Rub my belly, Daddy!"

That is some luxurious belly fur!
