"You meet the nicest people on a Honda." No, this post isn't about the scooters.
After work today, Joan and I were sitting in Wild Blue's cockpit. She had a glass of wine, I was finishing a "real sailor's drink" (a rum). I saw someone coming down our finger dock.
If you read the comments from the post the other day about the unique small trimaran, our C-Dory friend Sam gave us a cyber introduction to the trimaran's owner, Steve Roberts. We invited Steve onboard Wild Blue, Joan got him a glass of wine, and we started a new friendship.
Steve is a very interesting guy...

Plus, he has a cat named Isabelle. We enjoyed visiting with him...
After we had visited a while, I asked him about the trimaran - he said, "It would be easier to explain at the boat... if you want?"
"Absolutely!"
I had plenty of questions, and Steve patiently answered them all. While we were visiting, two other guys came up, asking questions of their own. This little boat attracts a lot of attention. It is well thought out and executed, with engineering you wouldn't imagine in this compact package...
A very interesting evening.
For you boat folks, Steve is also the guy who made the automated radio check for VHF in Friday Harbor a reality. This guy is brilliant; it was a treat to make his acquaintance. You meet the nicest people on boats, too.

We had a very nice family who chartered with us today. Yep, more nice people on boats. We visited for a bit, then headed north. The Orcas are still out of the area, but we had a great Minke whale viewing, including some lunge-feeding. We did not give up looking for Orcas, continued north to Boundary Pass, around Stuart Island, and had some great bald eagle viewing on Spieden Island - while the female watched from a high branch, the male struggled to drag a salmon up the hillside. He was determined.
It was a beautiful day on the water.
