More than you ever wanted to know...

About Lavender.

Day off.  We be scooting.  Well, after lounging in for a while this morning.  The weather is glorious: sunshine and actual warmth.  Really.  As in: we left our jackets off when we first took off... that lasted almost 10 minutes...

Options...

Great back roads...

Awwwww...

Rolling...

Joan wanted to stop at the lavender farm on the island.  I thought this would be the kind of place where guys walk around uncomfortable, while the women say things like, "Oh, that smells so good," or "This would be so relaxing."  I feel the same way about a good burger place.  So, here we are...

The parking lot...

Heading to the Visitors Center (aka: if it is lavender, we sell it)...

Oh, I read all the signs about how many types of lavender, what it is used for, how it tastes (I don't think so), how they distill it (a still - this is like moonshine)...

The part that interested me the most was the view of kids sailing little Optimist-type boats in a pond across the road...

Joan enjoyed the time in there, and I know she puts up with it when I want to look in a guitar shop... so, yeah, I really enjoyed it, too.  Really.  Who knew you could do all that with lavender?  Fun.

Back on the scoots...

We stopped at a turn out, after we saw some whale watch boats on the water...

What does a whale watch boat captain do on his day off?  Check out the whales, of course...

There were a couple nice groups out there.  The water looked pretty calm (those are eddies you see in the water above).  Beautiful day.  No, I am really happy to be out on the scoots.

Back to the riding, and an "over the shoulder" shot...

I kinda like the perspective.  And to think I spent all those years actually composing images??

We rode back into Friday Harbor and stopped at Haley's for a late lunch - they have motorcycle parking right outside the entrance.  I got to have a really messy chili-burger... with no lavender on it!  ;-)

After a very satisfying meal, we got back on the scoots for a bit more riding by the water on the east side of the island.  Back to the boat by late afternoon, little Izzy was happy to see us...

Even a short once-around-the-harbor in Wild Blue.  Scoots, boat, and a chili-burger...
some kick-back time in the cockpit for all three of us this evening... nice way to spend a day off.
