Droning on...

Joan and I both picked up some kind of bug - we felt fine when going to bed last night.  Middle of the night, I woke up with an awful sore throat, head and body aches.  A few hours later, Joan has the same symptoms.  It was a beautiful day, but neither of us felt like going anywhere but the couch... or the recliner.

Shortly after dark, the UPS truck pulled up at our house.  I've been expecting this - tracking the package while enroute is almost fun.  I brought in the package and opened it up...

It is a quadcopter with a 4K camera.  I've been considering one for quite a while; this company had a really good Black Friday sale... that they extended through "Cyber Monday."  I made the purchase on Monday evening.  Free shipping, 3-day.  And, here it is, right on time.  And I feel lousy.

I pulled it out of the box and charged up the batteries.  Held my breath when I turned on the controller, then the copter... ohhh, there's the image from the camera on the controller screen.  I walked around in front of it to take a photo remotely...

Yep, it works!  Well, there was no flying.  I need to find a good (soft) place without obstacles to whack into... in the daylight.  There is a "beginners mode" while learning to fly it.  I have been reading up and watching videos.  Then, you can switch to Pilot Mode and get more performance out of it.  It will do 4K video and 16 meg still photos.  I am anxious to give it a try.  And try not to crash it.

My son in-law got one while I was there and it took off before he was ready, the look on his face was priceless. LOL

I haven't got that far, yet. Mostly, the looks on my face are: what does this switch do? ;-)
