AM clouds, PM sun...

That's what the weather weasels were calling for along our route today.

We drove this route through the mountains last year, and found it more pleasant that I-90/405/5 through the Seattle area.  Most of it is two-lane, but there are occasional passing lanes, making for less pressure to drive the RV right at the speed limit.

The drive started off with beautiful sunshine.  Of course.

As we reached the summit along this route, the weather went downhill... for what would be the downhill portion of this drive...

I have no photos of this, but there must have been some kind of a sports car club event going on - we saw scads of BMWs, Audis, VWs, and the occasional Japanese sporty vehicles heading in the opposite direction.  Yeah, towards the crappy weather.

This route would drop us off around Everett - Joan was checking traffic on her phone...it is backed up all around I-5 at Everett.  We decided to try an alternate route: Hwy 9 that parallels the Interstate.  It would have been a good way to go, except...

An accident - someone was having a very bad day.  The road was closed to northbound traffic.  The police were detouring all traffic onto neighborhood streets.  It was stop and go, stop signs, and too many cars for about an hour.  Just when I thought we were clear...

Yeah, more flashing lights ahead.  When the traffic finally began to thin out some, Mother Nature came back to play...

By the time we got to the Interstate (north of Everett), the traffic was light, and the rain let up.  Smooth sailing ahead.  We turned onto Hwy 20, heading towards Anacortes - getting close...

The only part of this entire trip where the Honda was ahead of the motorhome - good looking vehicle.  Checking fuel prices, we decided to stop at the gas station at the Indian casino just before Anacortes - saved 28¢ per gallon compared to the other gas stations in the area.  Going over the tall bridge there...

The first glimpse of the Salish Sea!  I got that "almost there" twinge in my stomach.  I guess I am getting excited about this summer.

We pulled into an RV park for a couple nights, to allow us to get provisioned and ready to settle in for the summer.  We have reservations for the ferry on Monday morning.

There is a tiny bit of grass between the sites here - enough to make little Isabella happy to be done driving for the day.  After we got hooked up, she enjoyed some outdoor time.  The sites in this park are very close together, but this particular site is long enough for our length...
