Getting out before the heat...

No, I am not talking about the police chasing us.

We said our good-byes last night, knowing that we would get out reasonably early this morning.  By 7:30, we were rolling.  It was already 86º.  We made a one-stop gas/breakfast, got off the 303 and onto Highway 60.  This road takes you northwest - just right for keeping the sun behind us all morning.  By 11:00, the outside thermometer in the motorhome was showing 100º... while we rolled through the Arizona desert.

Decisions to be made - stopping at Las Vegas would only be a 300 mile day.  Going further, and we may not be able to find a convenient place to get off the lonely roads across Nevada.  We are down for the night in Sin City.  The temp is a balmy 103º at 3:00.  Our bellies are full (lunch at a nearby Dickie's BBQ) and the a/c is running full blast.  We are in a nice RV resort with a long site for 1/2 price, thanks to Passport America... may have to take a dip in their pool later.

Neither of us are interested in wandering the Strip or attempting to make any "investments," thanks to the heat.

Tomorrow, we'll get to try out the double towing... we have only hooked it up, haven't done a road test, since that isn't allowed with a motorhome in Arizona.

On edit:

The pool at Oasis Las Vegas does feel like an oasis as the sun gets low...

We spent some time in the pool... then to the hot tub... then back to the pool.  Very refreshing!
