Tacos...

While wandering around town on foot yesterday, we came across an eatery we hadn't seen before.  That's kind of a big deal when you consider getting off this island isn't an inexpensive proposition.

Tia's Tacos.  It's on a side street, in what used to be a house.  Apparently, it opened over the winter.  We took a walk today and gave Tia's a try... more seating outside than in, you order at the front counter, then find a seat.  Sounds kinda fast food, but it isn't.  It ain't no Taco Belle.

Joan ordered a chicken chimichanga; I ordered two beef tacos.  The food comes out in a paper container (think: old time drive-in french fries container).  Joan's chimi was normal size; my tacos were... um... smallish.  Cubed beef, not ground beef.  At $2 each, not sure what I was expecting.  Whatever it was I was expecting, these were smaller than that.  But, the food was good.

Not "authentic" Mexican like those of us who live a stone's throw from the US/Mexico border think of, but we'd go back.  If you are looking for it, it is by the Post Office.

On edit: we walked up to the Friday Harbor Marketplace yesterday.  It is "the other" grocery store in Friday Harbor.  Some folks call it "the locals' place."  It's owned by the same folks who have King's Market on Spring Street, so they aren't competing with each other.  And, they have different stuff at each store.  The store near the marina has more convenience items and a deli.  The market further uptown has bulk items and more produce.  One thing that does lend some credence to the fact that the Marketplace is more for locals: no signage...

Never seen a grocery store without a sign out front.
