It's a procedure.
"OMG, Jim, what did you do??"
No, I did not get lip injections. While I did get injections, they were not in my lip... just feels like it's in my lips. Today was my dentist appointment for a "deep cleaning" for my teeth. Deep, as in: down to the roots. The hygienist who worked on me today gave me 7 injections in my mouth before starting what I like to call: "Grind & Scrape." That is not a suggestive dance.
Wendy, my new best friend, was kind and gentle. She asked if I wanted her to explain as she was working or if I wanted her to be quiet. "Explain away," I said. She did.
I couldn't keep up my end of the conversation, because my lips, tongue, gums, and even my nose were numb. So, I don't actually have lips like a Kardashian, it just feels like it.
I'll spare you the details, but I thought the procedure went well. It took the amount of time that Wendy expected (an hour and 15 to an hour and a half), and I left with my wallet significantly lighter. And no feeling in my lips and the tip of my tongue. Still. 45 minutes after she was done with me.
I have no doubt I will be feeling this later, but right now it isn't bad. No spicy foods, chips, popcorn, hot & cold foods/drinks for the next 48 hours. Lots of care instructions. I will follow them, 'cause I don't want to mess up any of this.
For her part, Wendy was confident while she worked - that goes a long ways towards making a patient feel comfortable. She worked quickly, but nothing felt rushed. She gave me a break every 20 minutes or so and massaged my jaw... "Seems that most people feel discomfort from their jaw aching rather than the teeth or gums hurting." We'll see.
Back home, I'd like to have a drink of water - maybe something "harder" like a Diet Coke... but I'm concerned it will dribble out of the corners of my mouth. Another lovely image.
