The finished Aeroband video...

This link is currently "unlisted," but it will be public in a day or two.  Here's a preview if you want to check it out...

I appreciate Mark's perspective on this.  Seems we both enjoyed the experience, but, no, it won't replace any of my current guitars.  But, a fun "add-on"... I especially like the piano sounds.

I sent Mark and Aeroband the link to the video.  Mark was happy with how it came out, and Aeroband responded right away: they like the perspective of an older player with some hand issues and appreciated getting two perspectives.

I put a link to the Aeroband Guitar in the description of the video on YouTube, and they asked if I could make a small modification to that link so they can keep track of how many people went to their site directly from my video.  No problem, and it doesn't change the link...

Click on the above link if you want to go to the Aeroband site for any more info on the guitar.

The link is now "Public".

As Mr. Spock would say... fascinating. That was a good review and very informative. Maybe not a perfect emulation, but far better than not playing at all. I play in several different tunings, so that capability might be useful at times. I presume this is not compact enough to go into the new RV as your travel guitar? (Gotta leave room for Murphy and his toys too).

The idea of having something workable but easier to play due to arthritis is worthwhile. I started getting hand pain a few years ago. I bought an inexpensive square neck resonator to learn just in case. Cleaning up my diet some helped mitigate that (another discussion entirely) so I can still play standard acoustic guitar. Shorter scale lengths and lighter tension are my friend these days.

FYI, I followed the link but did not find your video on their web site, so I watched it through your blog.

Hi Earl - that link is just to get to Aeroband's site. I can still play all my guitars, but some are easier than others... just like the rest of me, the hands are getting any younger. As I spend more time with this thing, I think I like the piano sound on it best.

As far as using it for a travel guitar: the body is a bit too wide to fit in an overhead compartment. The Traveler is still going to be the best for that, unless we're just doing a weekend away.

Thanks, Mark. It is an interesting "device" - guitar(like) in the look and general feel, but the playing is different. It takes an adjustment in technique to get the best sound out of it. Certainly not "traditional"... the way of the future? Probably not; guitar players tend to be very traditional.

I'm looking forward to when we get the MIM guys together again (probably well into September) and putting in their hands to see what they think of it.
