Showing Off...

Me?  No, I'm rather shy and retiring.  Well, I'm retired.

I am talking about Murphy.

I was getting gear ready to get together with my music buddies, The Brothers MIM, for the first time in a couple months.  Yes, Mark, Podge, and I played out last month, so we had a couple rehearsals before that, but this will be with 5 of us today.  With things going on, summer travels, and life, Mark suggested we wait until after Labor Day to get the group together again.

I have missed my music buddies.  Ron won't be there, he is still out and about on his summer travels.  Today, it will be Mark, Danny, Gil, Carl, and me.  Music and pizza.

"Yeah, yeah, geezers and guitars - what about Murphy?"  Thanks for bringing me back on topic.  Murph is generally not a hissy fellow.  He does not like the vacuum cleaner, and will hiss at that when Joan brings it out.  This morning, while I was packing up gear, Murphy and Tango were playing... in my music room and Dan's office.  There was some feline wrestling, but mostly it was "follow the leader."  And a lot of jumping and hopping.

With my gear loaded into the car, I came back to bring Murph home with me: "Come on, buddy, let's go home."  I guess he wasn't done playing.  I reached down to pick him up (2 hands, as he has become a good size cat), and he let out a spitty hiss and front legs flailing!  Not trying to do any damage to me, but Tango was right there and I think Murph was showing off for his orange buddy.  Tango and I both looked surprised at the outburst.  Well, I think Murphy surprised himself, too.

Regardless, I carried him back to our house.  No fuss.  He's chillin' now...

Look at that face - can you imagine that sweet boy hissing and flailing?  Yeah, me, too.  ;-)

--------

A good time with my MIM buddies today.  Even though we hadn't played together in a while, the playing didn't feel rusty.  I didn't get any photos or video.  Three of the other 4 will be playing at MIM this Friday and Saturday, leading a sing-along with 7 or 8 Beatles songs... so Mark asked if we could play those.

"Sure!"  I enjoy The Beatles.  That said, whoever it was from MIM that arranged this has everyone of the songs being played in the key of G.  That's not the key for the original songs, and it made the vocals a bit of a stretch for me.  Since I won't be playing at this event, I backed off a bit to not strain my voice.

But, the rest of the playing today was a lot of fun!

What a face... Who, me? I didn't do nuthin". Maybe the full moon made Murphy a bit wilder.

As I put the cans on the street last night for garbage pickup today, there was a huge blood moon rising. Very red and then orange as it got a little above the horizon. Neat and unusual.

Very Cool, Earl - no blood moon here. Of course, as the moon is close to the horizon, you are seeing it through more atmosphere, which can color (generally warmer) the, um... color you see.
